Dear Sir,
Please advise how to calculate the excess % on bean count. The contracted spec for bean count is 100 but actual result is 102.32. An excess of 0.46%. Buyer advised deduct 0.2% per bean count. Would like to know how 0.2% is derived?

Encik Fadilah,
Terlebih dahulu maaf atas kelewatan balasan pertanyaan berhubung diskaun atas kiraan biji koko. Merujuk kepada soalan kontrak adalah pada 100 biji/100gm tetapi keputusan analisis ialah 102 biji/100gm oleh itu terdapat lebihan 2 biji. Berdasarkan amalan sebenar pembelian koko oleh pedagang lebihan akan dipotong antara RM10 - RM15 setiap tan. Kadar 0.2% setan matrik adalah amalan biasa oleh peniaga. Tiada formula yang standard untuk pengiraan diskaun tersebut. Setiap pedagang mempunyai kadar yang berbeza dan mengikut kontrak jual/beli yang dipersetujui. Nasihat saya ialah sebaiknya konsainmen koko yang dibeli/jual terlebih digred dan saudara telah terlebih dahulu mengetahui kualiti koko. Di sinilah kekuatan saudara untuk meminta harga yang lebih baik.

I am retired since 1st Aug 2009 and keen to share my knowledge and experience with MCB. A lecturing position is most desirable. I was in Nestle Malaysia and started up production of Cocoa Liquor,Butter and Powder in Malaysia Cocoa Manufacturing in 1983 till 1988 before Nestle sold the business to Felda. I was the first Production Manager of Chocolates in Nestle Malaysia producing Brands like Kit Kat, Crunch, Smarties, Nestle Classic and Milo and had undergone extensive training in chocolate making abroad. I am also a graduate of ZDS, chocolate school in Germany. If you are keen to interview me, I would be glad to provide more details later. Dear Sir,
I get grindings figures by converting butter and cocoa liquor export into beans. Others are happy by using the combination of powder and liquor. My dissapointment is that my calculation is far below from the MCB figures. I can understand why the different if MCB figures are the actual of grinders information vs calculation. Please confirm and thank you for this.
